This Friday, June 7, the Administrative Conference is proud to be co-hosting, with the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), an important discussion on Capitol Hill of issues currently facing the U.S. standards system. The event will address The U.S. Public-Private Standardization System: A Critical Tool for a Strong Economy, and will feature remarks from leaders in all three co-hosting organizations, including:
- Paul R. Verkuil, Chairman of the Administrative Conference;
- S. Joe Bhatia, President and CEO of ANSI; and
- George Arnold, Director of NIST’s Standards Coordination Office.
The speakers will explore standards issues from both the private and public perspectives, with an emphasis on how the public interest can be best served through robust public-private partnership and collaboration. There will be a question and answer period and opportunity for discussion among speakers and attendees.
The Administrative Conference has recently addressed several key standards-related issues in recommendations on the subjects of incorporation by reference, third-party programs to assess regulatory compliance, and international regulatory cooperation.
The event will be held from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm on Friday, June 7, 2013, at the U.S. House of Representatives, in Room 2226 of the Rayburn House Office Building. A brown bag lunch will be provided.
More information, including instructions on how to RSVP for the event, is available here. We hope to see you there!
