What’s on at the 67th Plenary on June 16th: Discussion of Agency Website Best Practices and Negotiated Rulemaking

Washington, June 14, 2017 – Join the Administrative Conference of the United States (ACUS) on June 16th for its 67th Plenary session from 10:00am to 2:00pm EDT at Constitution Center, 400 7th Street, SW, Conference Rooms A, B, and C Washington, DC 20024.

The ACUS Assembly will debate and vote on the adoption of two recommendations, both of which aim to improve transparency, increase public engagement, reduce administrative costs and litigation, and streamline administrative processes.

 Adjudication Materials on Agency Websites

This recommendation aims to provide government agencies with guidance on how to make important adjudication materials readily available on agency websites. The recommendation furthers the spirit of the FOIA Improvement Act of 2016, which encourages expansive proactive disclosure of federal records.

 Negotiated Rulemaking

This recommendation aims to help agencies decide when to use negotiated rulemaking or other methods of public engagement. It also suggests how agencies can conduct negotiated rulemakings in the most efficient way possible.
